Joseph Berardo, Jr.
President and CEO
Joseph Berardo, Jr. currently serves as CEO and President of MagnaCare. In this capacity, Mr. Berardo is responsible for the management of all of MagnaCare's day to day activities and the strategic initiatives of the company. Mr. Berardo originally joined the company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in January of 2003. He took over as President in June of 2005 and added the title of CEO in September of 2007. Joseph Berardo started his career in healthcare with U.S. Healthcare in 1990. He subsequently held leadership positions at Mount Sinai Health System, Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Multiplan. Mr. Berardo has authored numerous articles related to health plan strategies for employers and brokers. MagnaCare has experienced dramatic growth under his leadership, positioning the organization as one of the largest regional Health Plan Services companies in the country.
Mr. Berardo currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish foundation of NJ. He is also an active supporter of the academic and athletic programs of his three children.
Thomas B. Considine
Chief Operating Officer
Tom Considine joined MagnaCare as Chief Operating Officer after serving as Commissioner of Banking & Insurance in NJ Governor Chris Christie's Cabinet. As MagnaCare COO, Mr. Considine has direct responsibility for the Company's Operations, Medical Management, Hospital & Professional Networks, Customer Service, Claims, Actuarial & Analytics, Information Technology and Legal & Regulatory Affairs. Additionally, as a Member of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer with the CEO and CFO, Mr. Considine plays a key role in overseeing all significant matters at MagnaCare.
Gov. Christie named Mr. Considine Banking & Insurance Commissioner on January 15th, 2010. Commissioner Considine brought about a seismic cultural shift at the 527-person Department, fostering a regulatory culture that promotes growth. He repealed 21 regulations that were burdensome on business; improved efficiencies in operating units, including achieving reductions in product approval time by up to 58%. Commissioner Considine championed a sweeping regulatory reform of the state’s PIP system. He led the Department through reaccreditation by both the Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). His NAIC peers elected Commissioner Considine to the organization’s Board of Directors, as a member of its Executive Committee and as Chairman of the Northeast Zone. Commissioner Considine played an active role at the NAIC in its implementation of PPACA.
Prior to his tenure in the Christie Cabinet, Commissioner Considine spent 17 years at MetLife, most recently as Vice President & Government Relations Counsel, responsible for a broad range of government relations issues for both the Financial Services and Auto & Home companies nationally. He managed a staff of attorneys and lobbyists throughout the country.
Commissioner Considine received his JD cum laude from the Seton Hall University School of Law and his BS magna cum laude from the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University. He formerly served on the Seton Hall University Alumni Board of Directors.
Following law school, Commissioner Considine served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Clarkson Fisher, Senior United States District Court Judge in New Jersey. A former candidate for the New Jersey General Assembly, Mr. Considine remains active in NJ politics.
Terry Beach
Executive Vice President, Operations
Terry’s been with us since June 2002. Since she arrived, she has served as Manager of Credentialing, Director of Credentialing, Medical Delivery Systems, and Central Operations. In December 2008, she became our Vice President of Operations, a role that gives her responsibility for all aspects of operational performance and efficiencies including Customer Service, Provider Service, Claims, Data Integrity, and Training & Quality.

Bernard Piccione
Chief Information Office & Senior Vice President
Bernard joined MagnaCare in August 2011. Bernard is responsible for MagnaCare’s Management Information Systems which includes networking, security, telecommunications, application development, data warehouse, program management, vendor management, business processing and reporting. Bernard has over 25 years of relevant IT Leadership experience and 10 years experience in the healthcare field as an Enterprise Architect for GE Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Advanced Patient Advocacy.

Catherine Marino, MD, FACP, FACR
Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Marino has been with us since December of 2002, and she is in charge of the network’s medical management, physician performance and utilization review.

Jim Cusumano
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Jim joined us back in 2003 as Controller and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in December 2006. He is responsible for financial planning and analysis, business performance reporting and risk management functions.

Matthew Fienman
Executive Vice President, Network Management and Analytics
Matt’s been our Chief Actuary since 2004, and was promoted to VP of Medical Economics in 2006. He and his contracting team are primarily responsible for our contracts and relationships with our network hospitals.

Michael came on our team in March 2008 taking on the role of VP of Sales, Account Management and Marketing. His primary responsibilities are driving new business growth, overall retention of existing business, and leading the sales team.

Craig B. Greenfield

Craig has been here since April of 2000 and directs our Law Department. He makes sure that we’ve got all of our ducks in a row, in the legal sense.

Vice President of Business Development
Derek joined our team in April 2008, and is our VP of Business Development. He is responsible for strategic partnerships and new business creation.
